63. Our Farm Gate Stall

28th July 2019

Our Farm Gate Stall

Since the closure of the Serpentine Country Markets I have had no outlet where the general public can access my produce. So I decided we needed to be proactive and make one ourselves!

Although our property is not positioned ideally for this (we are on a cul-de-sac and don't have passing traffic to rely on), I do have a loyal customer base and a very good reputation within my local community. With this in mind Jamie and I have been working really hard to make a suitable set up for farm gate sales on our property. The area needed to allow customers to park and pick up their goods from inside our property with limited impact to neighbours (to satisfy the council) but outside a locked perimeter fence to satisfy the insurance company and reduce the risk of theft.

A monthly, manned stall appeared to be the way to go and since the 13th of July Jamie and I have been working hard to set up the infrastructure to make this happen. I actually cried when I saw the end result because I am so happy with all that we have achieved and on a shoestring budget.

I held my first stall today and although I only had a couple of visitors, I know that from little things big things will grow.
