How To Train Your Chicken

I came outside today to find Jamie stuffing a bewildered 'Darling' into the nesting box and blocking her exit. When I inquired as to what he was doing, he explained that he had put a plastic egg in there and was showing her where to lay her egg! I told him that I had my doubts that this form of chicken training would work and then asked how he knew she was the one laying. He reminded me that Red, Fluffy and Darling were the three older chickens and so she had to be the laying hen. At least this made a lot more sense than the chicken training!

So imagine my surprise, when this evening, looking very smug Jamie appeared with an egg in hand from the nesting box!
