Returned At Last

There were many really hard things to cope with following the tornado but one of the hardest was grieving the loss of the tree. Even close friends found it hard to understand but for Jamie and I, from the minute we pulled up in the driveway, it just looked so different.

Having the beautiful tree slabbed and incorporating it into our home would have at least provided some compensation for losing it from our landscape. It also would have helped us rebuild our home because the 12 metre slabs would have been worth at least a cool $10 000 each, easily enough for us to finally complete our dream home. Instead we couldn’t even count on it for firewood. We were beyond disappointed. It became a matter of principle, if we let the arborist get away with this they would do the same thing to other people in the future.

After numerous phone calls to the arborist from us with no results. I asked Dad if we could leave the task of getting our tree returned to us to him.

He agreed and finally, after  two weeks, our old friend came home in three giant pieces.
